8th Dilmah Partner Conference 2018

The Dilmah Partner Conference this year coincided with 30 years of Dilmah Tea, and took on the theme of No Compromise on Quality, Taste, Goodness and Integrity in all discussions and activities that followed. With the attendance of partners from 48 countries; tea inspiration was shared and gained; from Dilmah’s retail progress, to unique food service experiences; how an ethical tea brand like no other is reviving a tea drinking culture around the globe was illuminated.
The conference started by visiting the home of Dilmah for all to comprehend how the freshness in Dilmah’s Tea is retained, how the artisanal manufacturing process takes place, and how quality is maintained and assured from garden to tea cup. A visit to the Merrill J. Fernando Charitable Foundation Centre followed, where partners got a chance to engage with the children, and make heartfelt memories. They were also able to witness the efforts by Dilmah Conservation, and together with Dilmah, participated in pledging to avoid the single-use of plastic.
An Inaugural Gala Dinner served the island’s flavours with a modern twist by Chef Peter Kuruvita. The night was graced by the presence of Sri Lanka’s Hon. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who expressed his admiration for Merrill J. Fernando’s vision and courage to implement what has brought about Dilmah, whilst also acknowledging him for breaking in to a global platform with Ceylon tea, and for being one of Sri Lanka’s most celebrated and looked up to entrepreneurs. How Dilmah has revolutionised Food Service was also explored; from going beyond offering a tea service, to offering guests a tea experience. A tea inspired dinner featuring Dilmah’s latest 30th anniversary celebratory range, the Founder’s Anniversary Reserve, concluded the third night with a special menu crafted by Chef Peter Kuruvita and Mixologist Robert Schinkel.
With the application of No Compromise on knowledge, the conference concluded with the concepts of tea taught and discussed being brought to life, by displaying its practical use in an expo; where all those who attended were able to engage and discover what a real tea experience is; from tea mixology to tea gastronomy, and everyday tea time experiences.
